Email Aliases
Email Aliases enable you to have email messages redirected to a specific POP email account. For example, you can set up the email alias sales@yourdomain.com to direct all messages to your account you@yourdomain.com. These aliases can be added or deleted at any time.
Email Autoresponder
An Autoresponder is a pre-determined message with information you want automatically sent to anyone who emails a designated email address/mailbox at your domain. When an email is sent to a mailbox that you have assigned an autorespond message to, the autoresponder automatically sends a reply. You can easily create autoresponders through your control panel provided with your account.
Webmail (cPanel)
Webmail is a web based email client, on cPanel servers you are giving a choice of which web based email client you wish to use, Horde, SquirrelMail, or RoundCube. You can reach your mail associated with your domain name for you (and your users), from anywhere, as long as you have any computer connected to the internet. The only software you need on a computer to access the webmail is a web browser, which all computers have now days.
IMAP - Internet Message Access Protocol
IMAP is a method of access electronic mail (email) on your email server. Unlike POP3 mail where you actually pull the email off the email server, IMAP the email is read and stored in your folders and can be left on the mail server.
You can use a personal computer at home, at the office, a laptop, i-phones and a many other "portable" devices to access your email and leave it on the web server without transferring it off the mail server.
You can use most any mail client to access your email using IMAP, like Outlook, Outlook Express, Vista Windows Mail, Thunderbird and others. Web based IMAP software more commonly called Webmail can access the IMAP server using a computer or portable device connected to the internet and a web browser. Some of the most popular Web based IAMAP software is Horde, SquirrelMail, RoundCube.
SMTP - Simple Mail Transport Protocol
SMTP is what is used when you send mail out. A SMTP server of some sort is either used by your local internet provider to send email or your can use the SMTP server that comes with your web hosting service.
